Christians, a minority in the erstwhile Hindu kingdom, have been undertaking a relay hunger strike since March 23 seeking land to bury their dead. Urging the community to end the strike, the ministry for federal affairs, constituent assembly, parliamentary affairs and culture formed the committee on Thursday.Chief of the committee Rishikesh Niraula said that it would study the case and submit a report within the next 45 days.

The team, led by Italian conservation expert Costantino Meucci, will restore the marker stone, nativity sculpture and Ashoka pillar in Lumbini, 250 kilometres (150 miles) southwest of Nepal's capital Kathmandu.
Lumbini, declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1997, is visited by Buddhist pilgrims from around the world, and the month-long restoration campaign is funded by the Japanese government.

The census started Tuesday at the Chitwan National Park, some 175 kilometres south of Kathmandu, and was due to last three weeks. The latest count of the rhinos conducted in 2008 put the number of the one-horned rhinos in the country at 435, out of which 408 are in the Chitwan National Park. More than 25 rhinos were reported dead in 2008-10. Nearly 100 were killed in 2001-02, when the Maoist insurgency was at its peak.
